Gloria Gassi posted a condolence

My sincere condolences to family, friends, and students of Dr. B. What a honour and privilege to have known her and to have been blessed by her expertise and knowledge. She radiated wisdom and integrity, always looking deeper into the profound exploration of the music. Her knowledge of both piano and voice repertoire was incredible as well as her perception of artists and performers. She had such a vast history and brought her gifts generously to us all. I often left her classes in awe of the mystery she could unfold with such beauty and elegance. Make wonderful music in heaven dear Damjana. We will miss your presence with us. With gratitude and love, Gloria Gassi

Damjana Bratuž was a remarkable artist, music royalty in her own right.
She was one of those once-in-a-lifetime encounters. She radiated light—a bright star who could brighten any space she walked into.
The UWO Music Library folks I worked with likely remember her visits—and the lovely panettone she brought for the staff every December.
She was generous with anyone who loved music, and I was no exception. She made students believe in themselves and in their potential. After hearing me sing in an Early Music concert, she coached me on Italian diction with infectious joy and enthusiasm—a gift I continue to cherish.
The last phrase I sang for her was from Manon Lescaut by Puccini: Donna non vidi mai, simile a questa! What a fitting choice for such a beautiful human being.
It was a privilege to know her, and my life is richer for it. Riposa in pace, cara Damjana.
