Obituary of Jean Jackson (Burgoin)
Passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025 in her 103rd year. Loving wife of the late Charles Murfin Jackson (2021). Devoted mother to Brian (Joyce), Carolyn (Charlie) Wright, Nancy Wiebe, and Louise (John) Hush. Proud grandmother of Valerie, Christopher (Jenny), Mark, David (Mary), Heather (Lance), Laura, Julie, Ben (Kristen) and Emily (Hari). Cherished great-grandmother to twelve. Predeceased by grandson, Andrew (2022) and brother John Burgoin. Jean will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends, Marie and Marg.
Jean was born on Nov. 26, 1922 in Tottenham, England and was married to Charlie Jackson on May 21, 1949. She graduated in April 1945 from the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Public Health Nurse prior to raising 4 children. To Jean, family was “everything”. She enjoyed hosting family get-togethers. Jean was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and loved having her picture taken many years ago with her hero, Joe Carter. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, golfing (into her late 80’s), square dancing, ballroom dancing, card games and listening to music. Jean was a real pro at Scrabble and often played it online with her grandchildren. Yes she was able to use a computer up until the age of 90!
To respect Jean’s wishes there will no visitation or service. A private family interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in London at a later date.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care (Marian Villa and St. Mary’s) for their dedicated care over the past 2.5 years.
If desired, memorial donations in Jean’s memory can be made to Animalert, an adoption agency for cats:
