Obituary of Douglas Michael Boyce

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Douglas Michael Boyce, age 86, of London, Ontario, who passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025. Doug was born in New Toronto to his parents, Pearl and Michael Boyce, one sister, Joan. He later moved to Haliburton, where he grew up, before returning to Toronto and eventually settling in London, Ontario. He is survived by his loving wife Jean, his son Warren (and daughter-in-law Lisa), and his daughter Leanne (and son-in-law Jeffrey). Doug was a proud grandfather to Matthew (and his wife Mackenzie), Lexy (and her husband Chopper), Zackary, and Connor. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Miles, Morgan, and Elly. Throughout his life, Doug was known for his talent with cars and his strong work ethic. He spent many years employed with Bell Canada, traveling widely to share his expertise with the phone system. Doug also had a lifelong love of sports. He enjoyed playing hockey and was proud to have achieved a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. His weekends would be enjoyed by watching Formula 1 car races. Above all, Doug cherished his family and friends. He was a true animal lover, never missing the chance to stop and pet a dog or cat. Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honour Doug’s memory with a random act of kindness. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kim and Nurse Stephanie at Byron Family Medical Centre for their exceptional care, with special gratitude to Stephanie for her role in Doug’s journey. Sincere thanks also to the Palliative Care Team at LHSC Victoria Campus C6 200 for their professionalism and compassion, and to Deb, PSW, whose kindness was deeply appreciated. Doug will be forever remembered for his big smile, his summer hats, and his kind heart.
