Obituary
Obituary of Pearl Po Chu Ip
On the evening of September 9, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family and the timeless voice of Mario Lanza, Pearl Ip (Au Po Chu) passed away peacefully.
In her 85th year, Pearl leaves behind a legacy of love, music, selflessness, and quiet strength. A gifted pianist and devoted music teacher, she inspired many with her passion for the arts. Yet her greatest joy and accomplishment was the family she built with her devoted husband, Peter Ip (Yam-Fai).
She was a proud and loving mother to Gratia (Mickey), Gabriella (Nelson), and Vernon (Sandy), and a deeply cherished grandmother to Lauren, Angelina, and Jonathan. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and delighted in watching them grow.
The beloved sister of Peter (Daisy), KK (the late Margaret; Ruby), and Andrew (the late Selina), her infectious and sonorous laughter will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews: Ambrose (Lydia), Alice (Daniel), Vanessa (Ed), Aaron (Bonnie), Ada, Grace (Sandro), and Ambrose (Sheri)—as well as by their children.
Pearl was also an enthusiastic traveller and adventurer, having cruised to more than 20 countries across both warm and wintry destinations. A seasoned camper, she always knew the best sites to book and embraced the outdoors with joy and curiosity.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate teams at University Hospital, Victoria Hospital, Ontario Health @Home, and Dr. Faria Rubab for their dedicated care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Pearl’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Terry Fox Foundation, or LHSC Foundation.
