Obituary of Barrie Russel Miller

Peacefully at Victoria Hospital London, in his 87th year. Beloved father of Michelle (Bill) Patten and Sandra Miller. Beloved grandfather of Tyler (Breanne) Patten and Brittany Patten (Chad Falardeau). Great Grandfather of Blake, Logan, Riley, Ellie and Lylah. Predeceased by his beloved wife Sylvia (nee Lesieur) and beloved daughter Joan. Dad was born in Montreal and later moved with his family to Stratford where he grew up. He left Stratford to join the Military (Army). He was stationed at Camp Petawawa where he met his future bride to be Sylvia. The love of his life. Together they raised three girls and lived a very happy life. They created many joyful memories with their numerous family members (too many to count) and friends (also too many to count). Our parents were well known for moving many times. People often complained of needing new address books. Dad could have been a professional mover. We may also have been on the run. Our homes were always filled with love and laughter. Dad was a respected Accountant and at one time the General Manager of Rochdale Credit Union. Our father was very active in sports and almost had a career in the NHL. At times he shared the ice with Gordie Howe, his idol. He loved coaching baseball for his daughter Sandra and helped coached his Grandson Tyler’s hockey. Later in life Dad became an avid golfer. His sense of humour and wit was unmatched. He always had everyone laughing and could tell the best jokes and stories. His love of chocolate and short bread cookies was always a bond with his granddaughter Brittany along with their sense of humour. He will be dearly missed by us all. We would like to thank the LHSC Palliative Team for their gentle care. “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a gift to treasure.” In lieu of flowers and for on behalf of Dad’s love of all dog’s, donations can be made to ARF Ontario arfontariodonate@gmail.com or on behalf of the great care he received, LHSC Foundation www.lhsf.ca
