Obituary of Ruth Greenfield

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Ruth Greenfield (née Powell), who was known to most as Ruth and affectionately called “Gummy,” at the age of 86. She will be deeply missed by her children, Jody Jones (Stef), Terri McNair (Joe), Larry Greenfield (Catherine), and Gillian Seguin (Dan). Ruth was a proud and devoted grandmother to Zoey, Tia (Nate), Alyssa (Jonti), Blake, Frankie (Ryan), Sam, Jack, Will, Ryder, and Eddie – all of whom she adored – and a loving great-grandmother to Noah. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Robert (Bob) Powell, and was a cherished aunt to many. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Len and Rose Powell, and her brothers, Ken Powell and Bill Powell. Her love of LEGO, decorating everyone else’s homes, and city politics always kept things interesting. She always had a quick, witty comeback, and had a knack for remembering the most unexpected details. Her family will remember her ways of expressing love like coaching soccer, giving driving lessons, and jetting off to the UK whenever she was needed. Ruth’s warmth, love, and devotion to her family will be cherished always and remembered by all who knew her. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
