Obituary of Lloyd William Welch
On Saturday March 21st ,2026 @ 7:35am, in his 92nd year, surrounded by his family at University Hospital, heaven received a true angel by the name of Lloyd William Welch
Lloyd leaves behind the love of his life of 68 years, wife Janette Welch. Lloyd leaves behind son Rob Welch (Wendy), daughters Kim Welch and Annette Smith (Brad). Loving grandfather of Cienna Welch, Brock Welch (Kim), Meg Smith (Spencer) Julia Smith (Jacob) and great grandson Logan Andrew of the City of London. Survived by his sisters Joyce Smith, Linda Hooper, Myrna Lacroix (Fred) and brother Bob Welch. Predeceased by his father Oscar Welch, mother Mina Welch (Timson), sisters Janet White, Joan Stoddard, brothers Jack Welch, Mel Welch, George Welch.
After 4 bouts of lung cancer, congestive heart failure, COPD and several other internal battles, Lloyd fought through each and everyone of them never allowing the ailments to get him down and all the while singing his favourite songs "It's a long way to Tipperary" and his love song to Janette "you are my sunshine".
The family would like to thank the nurses and PSW's at University hospital for taking such good care of him and for putting up with his one liners, jokes, sarcasm and playing along to make his stay as comfortable as could be expected.
Life will change for many without "Sir Welch" in it. His love, care, wit, humour and compassion for all those he met will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
While heaven is rejoicing as they receive Lloyd, there will be many tears still here on earth with his passing.
If there is a 10-pin bowling alley in heaven, we all know who will be giving out the lessons!
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 11th at 11am at Ridgeview Community Church, 1470 Glenora Drive, London.
All are urged to stay as there will be light lunch provided after the service. Please prepare to linger with family and friends to share stories and some laughs as we remember Lloyd.
