Obituary of Dr. Peter Tuckfoo Hwee

London, Ontario - We are saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Peter Hwee on May 22, 2026, in his 79th year. He will be missed by his son, Nathan (Jillian), and his beloved grandchildren, Violet and Sullivan. Peter was predeceased by his parents Kauk Lain Hwee and Shwe Heng Hwee, as well as his brother, Tuck Sein Hwee (Tan Shwe Ngwar). He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters, David (Kyin), Wendy (Henry), Helen (Ivan), Douglas (Moy Yarn), and his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife of 27 years, Pam. Born Kyaw Aung (Tuck Foo) on October 11, 1947, in Yangon, Myanmar, he was the second oldest of six siblings. Here, he finished his early education and went on to graduate from the Institute of Medicine Rangoon in 1974. Peter then moved to Canada to begin his residency, which he completed in 1977 at Dalhousie University. He later moved to northern Ontario to practice medicine and eventually established his own practice in Kitchener, Ontario, where he was a highly respected family physician for nearly forty years. Aside from his dedication to his work and family, Peter loved traveling and took pride in building his impressive wine collection. One of his greatest joys in life was playing golf. He spent many happy years as a member at Deer Ridge Golf Club and was given the nickname "two-a-days" for the amount of golf he played. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fox Hollow Retirement Residence for their compassionate care and support during the last four years of Peter's life. Cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held for family.
