A mutual friend invited me to Neil's house for poker, from the moment I met him he treated me like we'd been friends our whole life. A true gem of a person,

Still having a hard time believing you're gone, cuz.
One of my strongest memories is seeing you at John's funeral. You were so kind, so supportive, and so genuinely heartbroken for me. I'll never forget that.

Dearest Ann and Family,
I am at a loss for words....in shock truly. Please find strength in each other and know that memories will carry you through the tears and bring a smile when you feel you forgot how. When I first started working at cooper standard, Neil gave this to me on my first day. It might not seem like much as it’s just a little case to carry some small tools but it meant a lot to me at the time, I thought to myself, hey this guy is pretty cool and I was very right about that. He was an amazing guy to work with and learn from. He never lost his patience with me (although I’m sure he wanted to) and always took the time to help me with whatever I needed, no matter how long it took. I will miss him encouraging me to eat 6 slices of pizza for lunch on our weekly pizza days, and dance party Fridays. RIP Brother

Our deepest condolences from the VanKroonenburgh's to Chrystal and the entire Smaldon family. Worked alongside Neil for many years and always enjoyed his positive work ethics and humor he always shared on the "A" team . This is so sudden that everyone is so surprised. Neil, I will miss all the phone calls, text and FaceTime that we have at all hours. Also the fishing trips and visits to the lake. You would say Beautimus lol. Rest in peace my geat friend!

My deepest felt condolences to Chrystal, Kane, Allanah, Anne, Karen and Sarah for you loss. I met Neil at Pittock when him, Chrystal and Kane took a seasonal site beside me. I knew right away would become like brothers. I helped him with many of his projects, learned he was a perfectionist and that we could always "make it much more gooder" if we tried harder. If we didn't get that project done or were talking about his next planned upgrade we could always "drink about it" at my fire. I will forever cherish the time cooking beside him at our fish fry and turkey dinner for the Pittock gang. He always treated all my family and especially my grandchildren awesome. He took the time to talk to them and listen to their comments. He took my granddaughter for her first boat ride and she always talked about it. My campfires will never be the same without you being present and sharing a few pints with all of us. Rest in peace my brother.

We lost a true friend. We spent many nights at the fire discussing things, and I don't think we ever resolved them. He always started hi sentences with ' true story ', and Ialways giggled at that.
