My dear Margie and Family,
It's been written that when a person dies, his or her spirit lives in those who remember. Our tradition and culture as Jews is very specific in providing us with ways of remembering our loved ones. In addition, our tradition does not allow us to forget those who have died. Finding an appropriate way of honouring and remembering Rael is one of the goals of the mourning process.
HaMakom yenachem etchem b’toch sha’ar avelei Tzion v’Yerushalayim, May God comfort you among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

I had the honour and privilege of knowing Rael for over forty years. He had that extraordinary ability to make those with whom he was engaging feel like the most important people in the world while he was focused on them. Whether he was interviewing Holocaust survivors for Steven Spielberg's Yom Hashoah project, young couples making plans with Rael for their wedding day or preschoolers busy with their play, Rael was fully and completely present with them. I am eternally grateful for knowing him.
May his courage and indomitable spirit comfort all who mourn.

Love from the Dubbs in Sydney, Australia ❤️
Margie was our nursery school teacher in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, in South Africa. My brothers, Gavin, Brian & I, remember Margie & Rael as being ever present in our early childhood, growing up in South Africa, as Margie & Rael were very close friends with our parents, Richard & Gillian Dubb. All five of us remember Robbie & Stevie as babies & then Kate being born after Margie & Rael emigrated to Canada. Rael as the outstanding photographer that he always was, captured some beautiful shots of the three of us kidslĺ together & hanging out with our parents. We love Margie, Rael & their children, its a bond that cannot be broken & we will always cherish our special memories of Rael. I know that Margie, Steve, Rob, Kate & their children will continue to make their father & grandfather proud.

I first met Rael at Fanshawe College where he was teaching a video course. That was the beginning of almost 4 decades through which we often shared equipment and resources between our two video production companies. Rael would often edit his projects at my editing suite which would spark many interesting conversations.When the London Jewish Community became a contributor to The Life & Faith TV show, Rael was a huge asset with producing their segments for that show. Our last project together was the JNF Fundraising dinner a few years back where I shared dinner with Rael and Margie. Rael shot many weddings for me and with my team over the years and always presented himself very professionally while producing amazing results. I will miss him.

Rael was always all in when he chose to do something. Rael and Margie were members of a Gourmet Cooking Club a few years back. The theme for one of the dinners was food served in 1812. Margie and Rael turned up in costume! They enriched the entire occasion. Rael will be missed for his positivity and enthusiasm for life and living.
