Obituary of Elsie Marie Christenson

In Memory of Elsie Marie Christenson (Forsyth) 1926 – 2026 Peacefully with family by her side, Marie Christenson died at Victoria Hospital on Monday, August 17th, in her 101st year. Beloved wife of the late Donald Vern Christenson. Loving mother of Valerie Stashuk and Stephen Christenson and loving sister of Ron Forsyth and sister-in-law Wendy. Loving sister-in-law of Joella Christenson. Cherished grandmother of Corinne Stashuk (Price) and Benjamin Christenson. Proud great grandmother of Logan Price and Theodore and Aurora Christenson. According to a great number of friends and neighbours, Marie enjoyed the years she spent at Rosecliffe Gardens in London where she and her husband and then she alone enjoyed walks in Springbank Park. She also enjoyed socializing and made many lifelong friends. She played a variety of games, often attended coffee time and group dinners, and was known to buy a lottery ticket or two each week – with a recent happy win. Marie celebrated her 100th birthday in January, a truly momentous occasion, where she joined in partying with wonderful friends and family from here and afar. As her health declined after this birthday, she was especially appreciative of all the assistance and caring she was tendered by several well wishers and, most especially, by loving neighbours Joan, Beth, Susan and Margaret. The family can’t thank each of them enough. She made a memorable impression on those whose lives she touched and she will be sadly missed. There was a simple private gathering of invited friends and family to honour her memory. If desired, donations to Marie’s memory can be made to Parkwood Hospital where her husband was a long time patient. The family would also like to express gratitude to the 6th Floor staff of Victoria Hospital who so wonderfully cared for her and about her.
