Obituary of Robert Stewart
It is with deep sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Stewart, born April 13, 1949, who left us peacefully at home in London, Ontario, on September 26, 2026, at the age of 77.
Born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He shared an extraordinary 55-year marriage with the love of his life, Jean Stewart (née Walkinshaw). Together they built a life in Kitchener then London after emigrating from Scotland filled with unwavering devotion, laughter, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire all who knew them. Bob was also a proud and loving father to his daughter, Lorraine Stewart McIntyre, who was a constant source of pride and joy throughout his life.
Bob had a lifelong passion for sports and embraced every opportunity to stay active. Whether on the soccer field, the golf course, or the running trail, he found joy in competition, camaraderie, and the simple pleasure of being outdoors.
Above all else, Bob treasured time spent with his family. His grandchildren, Carter, Riley, and Brady, held a very special place in his heart. He took immense pride in their accomplishments, both big and small, and was always their greatest supporter. Whether cheering from the sidelines, sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply enjoying their company, Bob's love for his grandchildren knew no bounds. His kindness, patience, and sense of humor will remain with them always.
Bob will be remembered for his charisma, quick wit and his ability to make everyone in his presence feel comfortable. He was often found striking up conversations wherever he went, turning strangers into friends and leaving people smiling with his warmth and good nature. His generous spirit, welcoming personality, and unforgettable sense of humor touched countless lives and created lasting memories for all who knew him.
Though he may be gone from our sight, the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Bob will be forever loved, deeply missed, and fondly remembered by his beloved wife, Jean; his daughter, Lorraine; his grandchildren, Carter, Riley, and Brady; extended family in Canada, Scotland and Ireland; and many dear friends.
Bob was predeceased by his brother, Jim Stewart, and by his parents, Robert and Williamina Stewart (née Wilson), who made their home in Kitchener, Ontario, after emigrating from Kilmarnock, Scotland.
He was also predeceased by his cherished friend, Alex Cowan of Kitchener formerly Ireland. The two shared a long friendship, speaking almost daily about soccer, hockey trades, and their mutual passion for the Kitchener Rangers. Their conversations, laughter, and unwavering friendship brought Bob great joy throughout the years.
