Obituary of Judith Anne Rolston

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith (Judy) Anne Rolston, beloved wife of Bruce Jones, mother of Steve (Meredith) and Paul (Gina), stepmother to Gary, Wendy (Bill) and Richard (Michelle) and grandmother of Zach, Maddy, Emma and Hailey. Judy was born to Anne and Francis Linklater on July 8, 1943. She was raised on the family farm in Goderich, Ontario with her eight siblings. She is survived by Jennifer (Mark), Bill (Kathy) and Roy and is predeceased by Mary (Sandy), Barbie (John), Paul (Carol), Peggy and Ruth. Judy moved to Toronto in her early 20s and met Al Rolston. They married and had two boys, Steve and Paul, who became Judy’s heart and soul. The family moved to Manitoulin Island in 1970, where they founded J.A. Rolston Realty and worked in the Rolston Insurance business. Judy loved the calm and beauty of the island. She was an avid curler, cross country skier, snowmobiler, gardener and nature enthusiast. She cherished time with family and friends, particularly the many moments she shared with Linda and Buzz, Bill and Shane and their children. In 1980, Judy moved to London, Ontario and met Bruce Jones, her lifelong partner. Bruce and Judy built a beautiful life together and shared many memories and adventures. They enjoyed curling, golf and summers at the cottage in Bayfield where they had dinners and gatherings with their closest friends including Dave and Sharon, Bob and Jan and many others. Bruce and Judy adopted their beloved Cockapoo Freddie later in life and they cherished their time together. Judy became an avid Blue Jays fan and they loved watching baseball together. Judy also cherished her weekly time with her coffee girlfriends. Judy was a beautiful person, inside and out. She always chose to see the good in people and circumstances, however difficult. Her priority was her family and friends. She had a wicked sense of humour and her laughter was infectious. It filled a room and our hearts. She was incredibly strong and resilient, characteristics that shone through as she battled cancer with poise and grace. After a long and courageous journey, Judy passed away at home with her family by her side. She laughed and smiled until the very end. To all of those who knew and loved her, Judy’s memory will be eternal. We will gain solace from the full life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind. We envision her smiling as she is reunited with Freddie, her family and friends and will await the time when we will meet again. Judy’s family will be hosting a celebration of life in September, where we will raise a glass of red wine (Judy’s favourite) and share stories and memories of Judy.
