Obituary of Richard Miller

Richard Miller November 29, 1934 to September 7, 2022 During the 1970s and 80s, Richard owned and operated Dick Miller's Shell at the corner of Wellington and Commissioners in London, Ontario. He spent his entire career alongside the late Gary Carr (1996), his best friend and mentor. Richard was the son of the late Wilfred (1962) and Ethel Miller (1946). Richard was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Richard was the proud father of Jeffrey Miller and the late James Scott Miller (2016) (daughter-in-law Charlotte). Richard was the loving husband and best friend of the late Mary Miller (1996) and caring stepfather to Karen Matheson (Al), Lorna Rick (Jamie), Chris Saunders the late Patricia Saunders (2016) (Gary Ingram). He cherished time with his grandchildren, H. Steven Peer (Natasha), Heather McInnis (AJ), Jeremy Martin (Amy), Jesse Randall, Cailyn Murray (Greg), Steven Grimminck (Natasha), Shawna Grimminck (Drew), Bella Saunders and the late Russell Matheson (infant ,1995). Richard was great grandpa to Reilly Peer, Sydney McInnis, Jack McInnis, Tyson McCabe, Ryder Cole, Shannon Murray, William Murray and Jack Murray. Richard will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Ellie Brockhurst-Knappenberger (BK Knappenberger) and his nephews Bill Brockhurst (Virginia), the late Ted Brockhurst (2014) and Jim Brockhurst (2015). Richard enjoyed family time with his late brothers Chubb (1999) (Shirley) (2014) and Morley (2003) (Alice) and nieces and nephews Lisa Harris (Jason), John Miller, David Miller (Carol) and Peter Miller (Bonnie). A warm thank you is extended to the Austin cousins for years of great lunches and dinners: Robert, Ron (Judy), Gary (Sharon), Steve (Kandice), Jason (Joan), Ian, and Amy (Jeff). Thanks to the amazing nurses, PSWs and doctors at the London Health Sciences Centre, London Middlesex- Paramedic Services, the team at Paramed Home Health Care. The professional services of Dr. Fred Arthur, lawyer Alex Kelly and Lisa Higgins at BMO were always focused on maintaining autonomy and client respect. A very special thanks to Realtor and family friend Jesse Cronk, Janie Ward and Jeff’s co-workers at London Training Centre. They helped “Dad" enjoy the warmth and comforts of his own home, until a few days before he passed. Deborah Smith, Jamie Rick, Charlie Pool, Alice Miller, Kristie Holden, Gina Darlene, Susan Mara and Julie Johnson they all provided the extras he so appreciated. We fondly remember Patricia (Miller) Sampson, the mother of Scott and Jeffrey Miller, who together with Richard, co-parented and mutually respected one another until her passing in 2019. A memorial service celebrating a life well lived will be hosted by family and good friends on Saturday October the 8th at 2PM at Forest City Community Church East, 716 Classic Drive, London, M5W 5V6.
