Obituary of Robert Edward Frank

Frank, Robert Edward 1944 - 2022 Gone on one last fishing trip. Bob Frank passed away at his home on November 23, 2022. Bob was a loving father to Lori Hartwick (Steve), and Shari Hurrell (Scott), devoted Grampa to Sarah (Dan), Greg (Melissa), Magdalyn (Dylan), Aidan (Sara), Cailen and Riley, and proud Great Grampa to Ryker and Griffin. He will be dearly missed by good friend Carol, and the Walker-Hepburn family, sister-in-law Sandra Frank and niece Ramona, as well as many cousins, family, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Fredrick and Lily, brother Fred and nephew Gordon. Bob felt deeply at home among the forests and lakes of Northern Ontario, boating, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting with family and friends. He passed that love to his grandkids, taking each of them up north to teach them to fish, drive the boat and the argo, cheat at cards, and tell stories around the campfire. Bob caught many, many big fish in his time – and not all of them in his dreams while dozing in the boat. One gloriously large pike, which he caught by sheer brawn and bravery, was for many years mounted in the Lost Channel Inn so that passers by could be awed by its magnificence. In his youth, Bob was a champion pitcher and baseball player. He was an avid sports fan with a soft spot for the Green Bay Packers and an encyclopedic knowledge of obscure sports trivia. He was smart and resilient, fiercely independent, and more than a little bit mischievous. He delighted in teasing his loved ones and was a master of mysteriously well-timed trips to Buffalo. We will miss him very, very much. A Celebration of Life will take place in the new year. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
