Don was my baseball coach! He donated so much of his time to helping all of us become better athletes and understanding the game. He taught me a great deal on and off the field... Because of Don I am a better person!

Don has been a friend since we were both in grade nine at East Elgin High School in 1956. We maintained our friendship graduation. Through marriages, jobs, kids and grandkids. We knew the highs and lows of each other and always stayed in touch over the last 65 years. For the last decade we travelled together to MLB a s NFL games through the US at least three times every year. We’d move from city to city to see these games and then spend several days touring the city and learning its history. Don was very knowledgeable in most sports but particularly about baseball. We wouldn’t be at a game for very long before Don had met someone and was trading baseball stories. I think Don took me to most stadiums within a 700 mile radius of London. We generally drove to these venues but also occasionally took the train. We met a lot of people and have stayed in touch with some of them. A good friend we met from these trips lives in Green Bay Wisconsin and was particularly upset with Don’s passing when he heard. He called from Alabama to express his condolences. That was the effect Don had on people. He’ll be missed by many.

Jean, My deepest condolences to you and all of your Family. I am truly glad that I had the chance to renew some of our Aylmer memories with Don during the monthly breakfast meetings pre covid. Always a fun guy to be around. Last I talked to him was when he and Ian stopped into Brampton on their way back from visiting a friend in Quebec.

My condolences to the Doucet Family as Don will be missed by everyone. He was a good friend and had a wonderful sense of humour. We had many memories of parties, trips to car shows and BBQ's together.

Much of my youth involved the Doucets, Mr. Doucet took me to my first Tigers game. I was always welcomed in the home and spent countless hours both playing and coaching with Don. I have so many fond memories!

My condolences to Jean and family. Remembering Don and playing snooker with him at the Victory Legion and numerous other Legion tournaments. Don always had a smile on his face and was fun to be around (and was a much better snooker player than me!). We shared many great discussions over our love for baseball as well.
He was a gentleman and will be missed.

To Jean, and all of Don’s family: we are so sorry to hear of Don’s passing. I have known Don for a long time. We played pool together sometimes but of course he was way out of my league..
We also enjoyed going to many boxing events over the years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.

My condolences to the Doucet family. I played on a number of Huron East baseball teams Don coached in the 1970's and remember him as a generous volunteer, donating time to practices, games and many tournaments that we played in. He was quick to laugh and a real inspiration to us. Rest in peace Don.
