It was very sad news to hear of your loss. I'm glad that I was able to see him in September, to see the whole London crowd. Although I didn't get to see Uncle Bob that often, it was always good to see him. His warmth, his kindness and gentle humour made everyone feel good around him.
He and Aunt Marlene were so helpful when Mom died.
When I was in high school, we would have a career day each year, in spring I think. One year they were looking for someone to come speak about the military. I asked my mother if she thought I could ask Uncle Bob to find someone to come speak, it would be for a half day as people would rotate around to the different speakers over the morning. Mom phoned, and we asked, and he said he would see what he could do. When the day came, I was told that Uncle Bob would be there, with other people. I think he also asked for a large space.
I got there early that morning to bring his group in, and they were almost late getting there. It was because there were two vehicles with people and another large cargo truck, and downtown Toronto rush hour traffic. He had brought some smaller (!) pieces of ordnance, and I think some other equipment, and small team to help move them and explain what they brought to the students. His group had at least one female member. They were set up in the gym, where there was room for at least one gun (that I remember), and a projector and screen, and the chairs too. They were the hit of the event! So typical of Uncle Bob.

RT was a very likeable man and a leader - a true gentleman. He was a stalwart in The RCR Association and in particular the London Branch. His cheerful outlook and humour brightened spirits. I enjoyed seeing him and he was a pleasure to work with. I am saddened to hear of his passing. He was held in high regard by all and indeed, will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to his family. Their loss is also the Regiment's loss. Rest in peace, RT.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Uncle Bob's passing. His warmth, kindness, and steadfast spirit will always be remembered. I hold dear the memories of Uncle Bob, especially his infectious smile that could brighten any room, always bringing joy to those around him. I was fortunate to have seen him at our last family gathering, a time filled with joy and lasting memories. I understand that his absence leaves an irreplaceable void.
With love and sympathy,
Sean Walsh

Bob was more than a brother; he was my friend. As young lads, we got ourselves into so much trouble, as kids will and do. I will forever cherish the memories we made together. When he joined the army in 1958 and became a Royal Canadian, I was in awe of him. Three years later I became a Royal and we served together for the next three years, in 1 RCR. In my civilian life, we were together in our hearts. He will live in my heart and soul forever and ever. VRI. Pro Patria Brother

I have no one memory of RT, but rather a whole bunch of good ones all with the same theme. Here was one of the friendliest and most courteous members of our Regiment I have ever met. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the Home Station London and District Branch where he was so well respected. Stand Easy, RT. Your duty is done…

It is with deep sadness that we heard of R.T. Walsh's passing. A dear friend of the Royal Canadian Regiment Museum, long time volunteer, R.T. engaged with our visitors for many years. Young and old, they were all impressed by his presence and wealth of experience. he will be much missed. Our heart-felt condolences to the family.

"RT" was one of the very best, who committed to anything he touched whole-heartedly and to its successful conclusion. In particular, his support of The Regiment and the RCR Association were noteworthy and much appreciated. RIP, old comrade.

I remember my 1st Christmas in Canada, and Bob came home on leave. I believe it was his first year in the military. I was 4 years old and didn't really remember him because he'd emigrated from Ireland a year and a 1/2 before me & our mother, but he quickly won my heart ... with gifts & smiles.
I was so proud to show off MY big brother, dressed in uniform and holding my hand as we walked to the store. No-one else had a brother so handsome and so kind as mine, and although I didn't really know, I was sure no-one had a brother who was a soldier.
He was a kind & caring family man, a proud Canadian, and a soldier to the very end. He was loved and will be missed by many. Rest easy, big brother. I love you.
