Obituary of Jane Isabel Spencer

Spencer, Jane Isabel (Lackie) On August 24, 2020, at age 78, peacefully, with her family and best friend by her side, Jane was welcomed into the house of her Lord. Leaving behind her husband of 58 years and soul mate, William Robert Spencer, daughter Dulce Donovan-Linstead (Donnie) and son Shawn, grandchildren Jody Donovan, Court Linstead and Meghan Buckner, great grandchildren Hunter and Jackson, her big brother George Lackie and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents Mary (Copperthwaite) and Robert Lackie, brothers Bobby and Bill and sister Joan Markle, as well as sister in laws Joyce and Ella and brother in law Alex. Born in Oshawa, raised in Scarborough, Jane and Bob relocated to the London region in 1998 to be closer to their grandchildren. Family for them, always came first. ❤She was as brave as she was beautiful; ❤Strong as she was sweet; ❤And courageous as she was caring. Jane fought a long and courageous battle with cancer, but eventually lost the war. The family would like to thank Dr Sanatani, Dr Parent and nurse Julie from the LRCP; nurse Ladan and personal support workers Shanti and Agnes; and Pastor Ron Baker for his last minute scheduling to pray with Jane and her family. Special thanks to her niece Susan Murphy. We all could not have gotten through this without the care and support of this incredible team of individuals. A celebration of life is in the planning states, while being respectful of COVID restrictions and travelling guests. Details will be available shortly. In Scarborough, Jane spent many Aprils, canvassing the neighbourhood on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society. In later years, she made financial donations to many other organizations (CNIB and Covenant House being her regulars). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Canadian Cancer Society, your local cancer programs or a charity of your choice. Jane was a very special person. Faith, family and friends were important to her. She is gone, but will always be in the hearts of her loved ones.
