Obituary of Janet May Sims

1928-2020 With broken hearts we announce the passing of Janet May Sims on September 30th, 2020 at University Hospital London in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Ronald “Roy” Sims. Devoted Mother of Marcia Smith (Brian 2016) and David Sims. Loving grandma of Nicole Smith (Shane Dupuis) and Sarah Pocrnich (Garrett). Cherished GeeGee of Benjamin, Samantha and Emily Pocrnich and Draven-Dupuis-Armsworthy. Loving twin sister of Helen Riesberry (1988) brother and Lloyd (Eleanor) McDonald. Predeceased by her parents John & Ethel McDonald. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Janet had a very full and active life. Born in Lakeside, her childhood was spent on the family farm outside Embro and than the family moved to Woodstock. Janet and Roy began their married life in London and settled in Lambeth. After many years at Bell retirement took them to Bayfield. After Roy’s death Janet returned to London & Woodstock. Janet worked hard at keeping busy especially in retirement. Travel with friends and family, golfing, darts, lawn bowling, dancing, jazz club, bridge and euchre to name a few. Her day timer was always full. We wish to thank Craigwiel Gardens in Ailsa Craig who provided excellent care during her stay since January 2020. Many thanks to the 7th floor, 300 wing at University Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time. It was a comfort to be able to be with Mom during her journey. Due to COVID-19 a private family funeral will be held.
