Dear Bob and Family,
It was with great sadness I read of Marlene’s passing in today’s London Free Press.
I had the pleasure of working with Marlene in the Preschool at Sir John A. MacDonald for a number of years.
She was a wonderful, dedicated, caring, professional educator. I learned so much from Marlene during our time together.
Marlene loved her family and through her, I came to know about Christine, Brian and Patrick. She was always proud of her family.
Bob, I remember fondly your drop-in visits to our classroom and the delightful Friday lunches we often had at the Sergeant’s mess.
Somehow, Marlene and I always made it back to school in time for our 1 o’clock class. Then, you were promoted to Captain and once again,
Marlene was so proud of you. It did mean no more visits to the Sergeant’s mess, however.
Looking back, I remember those days as some of the best of my teaching career.
Even though we lost touch over the years, I thought of Marlene and you often. The photograph you chose
for her obituary is lovely. Her special personality shines through, beautifully!
Marlene will be forever remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
