Obituary of Centalyn Dawn Besterd
Centalyn Besterd, Mother of Nicholas, sister of Heather and Allan, daughter of Robert and Mary, lifelong employee of Royal Bank of Canada, namesake of Canada’s centennial year, passed away on January 11th, 2022 in her 55th year after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
She leaves behind a legacy of passion, love, loyalty, spirituality, and tenacity like no other. These characteristics live on in her son and in the memories of those who knew her. Each individual had their own relationship with Centalyn, but everyone knew she loved her trips to the south (Savannah and Orlando), sharing and trying new recipes, theatrical performance and the arts, the first burn of a new Sparta candle, her dog of 15 years Max, and her son. In her final days, Centalyn wanted to know that she was loved and that those closest to her were loved. She passed at peace knowing both to be true.
Her son thanks all those who reached out and offered their support and kind words during the last few months. A special thank you also to the staff of University Hospital, VON, and Parkwood Memorial Hospital who have been so gentle and caring.
At her request, there will be no service. There is a memorial page set up in Centalyn’s honour at https://londoncremation.com/tribute/. The family welcomes memories and photographs of Centalyn that you would be willing to share. On May 7th, 2022, Sparta Candles will be donating 10% of their candle sales to the London Humane Society in her honour.
