Richard Walker had quite a droll sense of humour. It often seemed that whenever Rick came upstairs to the kitchen from his office, he would be ready with some insightful and/or humorous statements, I’m reminded of Wilson (not Tom Hanks’ volleyball, but the Home Improvement Wilson). In 1998 Marni and Rick invited me to recuperate at their home after having shoulder surgery. Since I was going to be in a sling for a while, I purchased a couple of oversized T-shirts. One day, Marni and I looked all over for one of my new shirts. Then Rick appeared at the top of the stairs wearing my missing T-shirt, stating, “Marni, I don’t remember even buying this shirt.” Shirt found…...and shirt lost. Jump to Christmas Eve 2000, Marni, Sarah, Allie, Suzanne, Michael, Kristen and myself, were sitting around the Walkers’ kitchen table. Michael found Marni’s green reading glasses to be rather funny and old-fashioned looking and soon we were all giggling about the Green Glasses. Marni said, Well Rick said I looked good in them. With his perfect timing, Rick appeared at the top of the stairs, and said very drolly, “What I said, Marni, is that they are ‘you’. We miss you, Rick.

I would like to extend my condolences to Marni, Sarah and Allie and family on the loss of their beloved husband, father and grandfather. And also to Randy, Jeff and Robin. It was always great fun visiting our cousins' home in Byron. The parents having coffee and a chat in the kitchen while the cousins ran around the house. We particularly enjoyed the alligator and the comic books. I recall Rick and Sue visiting us out west and Ricks love of music. Rest in peace Rick. ~ Michelle Morrow

I'm glad I knew and worked with Rick. He was a great social worker and I learned a lot from him. One of my favourite memories was the surprise the secretary pulled on his 40th birthday. He never told us what she said. Boy could he blush. I will remember is sense of humour and commitment to his profession. He loved his family. He was a good man who will be missed. Hugs to Marni and the family during this very difficult time.

Rick and I went to the same hs, Westminster SS ;we knew a lot of the same people Byronites .We ended up working together at Woodstock Hospital for 22 yrs .Rick had a passion for learning he worked hard to get a 2 year post grad diploma ;Rick also passionately followed interesting counselling theories and taught the rest of the staff .Rick and I also had an interest in martial arts .I will miss his insight wisdom and sense of humour . Miss you Rick you left too damn soon .Phil Waller .
